  • Craig Dunn, DVM

    Born and raised in La Mirada, California
       Degrees:
       B.S. from University of California at Davis 1982
       Masters in Behavior from U.C. Davis 1983
       Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from U.C. Davis 1988

    Upon graduation, Dr Dunn completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at the Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital; a private practice, small animal referral hospital located in Santa Cruz, California. Upon completion, Dr Dunn remained on staff at the Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital as a general practitioner for small animals and exotics while also performing advanced dental procedures.

    Dr Dunn is a member of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Dental Society and the American Animal Hospital Association.
  • Ann Essman, DVM

    Born and raised in Lancaster, Ohio. She received her bachelors of science degree from Hillsdale College 1987 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ohio State University in 1990.

    Upon graduation, Dr Essman completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at the Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital; a private practice, small animal referral hospital located in Santa Cruz, California. After completing her internship, she practiced small animal medicine and surgery as a relief veterinarian in northern California.

    Dr Essman is a member of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital Association.
  • Kelly Vaughan, DVM

    Dr Vaughan is originally from Northeast Ohio. In 2001, she moved to South Carolina where she attended the College of Charleston and received her Bachelors of Science in 2005.  She returned to Ohio to attend The Ohio State University and received her DVM in June 2011.

    Dr Vaughan is a member of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association and The American Animal Hospital Association. Her clinical areas of interest are dermatology and internal medicine.

    She and her husband are the proud parents of 2 cats and 3 dogs. They enjoy spending their free time outdoors with their very active Springer Spaniels. She looks forward to joining the Lancaster community and getting to know the area!

  • Sherry Smalley, DVM

    Dr. Smalley is originally from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Case Western Reserve University in 2011 in Cleveland Ohio. In 2015 she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from The Ohio State University. She joined the Fairfield Pet Hospital in May of 2015. 

      She and her husband have 5 cats and 2 Pomeranians. They enjoy long distance cycling and kayaking together. In 2014, Dr. Smalley started participating in triathlons and half marathons. She is looking forward to getting involved in the Lancaster community and exploring all the wonderful things Southeast Ohio has to offer.

  • Jennifer Zarbaugh, DVM

    Welcome Dr. Jennifer Zarbaugh in February 2017!

    Dr. Jennifer Zarbaugh graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She practiced in the Canal Winchester community for 7.5 years before joining Fairfield Pet Hospital. Dr. Zarbaugh lives with her husband Joe, a firefighter for the City of Columbus, and their two children Jaxon (3.5) and Julianne (1.5). They have two dogs (Loki and Maya) and two cats (Madge and Tita). They enjoy spending their free time outdoors and with family. Dr. Zarbaugh also loves crafting and focusing on her health and wellness when she is not working. She is looking forward to joining the Lancaster community and building long term relationships with our clients and their fur babies!

  • Karen Blackstone

    Karen joined the practice in 2015 as the Practice Manager. She has been involved in management within the veterinary industry for over twenty years and enjoys daily interactions with staff, clients and their pets.

  • Pam Donley

    Receptionist

    Joined Fairfield Pet Hospital in 2005. She is one of the smiling faces that will greet you and your pet for each appointment!  She celebrated her 13th year of service this year!

    Receptionist

    Liz joined our staff in February 2013. Liz has a pet family of 5: 3 energetic dogs and 2 precious kittens.

     

     

  • Lindsey Molli

    Groomer
    Lindsey is excited to join the Fairfield Pet Hospital team as a pet groomer. She has been grooming dogs since 2013 and has been an animal lover all of her life! She has a horse named Treyce, a loyal senior farm dog named Sobe, a young son named Tanner and a younger daughter named Riley. 
    She loves grooming, facilitating the need for health and style and providing excellent and friendly care to our furry family members.

    Technical Supervisor / Registered Veterinary Technician

    Fairfield Pet Hospital welcomes Nikki who has spent the last four years working to provide excellent patient and client care in emergency medicine.  Nikki graduated from Bradford College with a degree in Veterinary Technology. She and her husband have one son and 2 fur babies; Hakunah and Matada.

    Graduated from Columbus State Community College in 1990
    Joined Fairfield Pet Hospital in June, 1996     She and her beagle Beanie can be found most weekends hiking at local parks.

  • Michelle Smith, RVT

    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Fairfield Pet Hospital welcomes our new RVT Michelle who has been in the veterinary field since 2007.  For the past 5 years, Michelle focused on providing excellent care to emergency and critical care patients. In addition to working hard in her career, she is  a mother of three two legged babes and has a Lab, Max, a cat Penny ,and Horse named Ellie.  She loves to spend her free time with her family, running, and riding her horses.

  • Joaquin Trujillo

    Veterinary Technician
    Welcome Joaquin who joins Fairfield Pet Hospital with many years of experience in the veterinary field. He first met Dr. Dunn and Dr. Essman in Santa Cruz California at a specialty hospital. Since then, he has worked as a technician in North Carolina and Pennsylvania and we are excited to welcome him to the Fairfield Pet Hospital in October 2016.

  • Samantha Ashton

    Veterinary Assistant
    Joined the hospital in 1999 in our kennels as a young high school student with a house full of Saint Bernards. Over the years, Samantha has become a crazy cat lady, owner of a crazy dog and devoted mother  of Savannah, her daughter who is an aspiring zoologist and future Fairfield Pet Hospital employee!

    Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant   

    Shawnda joined our staff in 2009. Shawnda can be of assistance as a receptionist, assistant or a kennel staff helper. In addition she assists with our computers in their time of need. Her multi-tasking nature is complemented by her love for the patients, clients and her co-workers.

    Receptionist

    Fairfield Pet Hospital welcomes Mikaela in February 2017. She recently moved to the Lancaster community from Columbus with her husband and a family full of pets including 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 turtles, a guinea pig and fish. She is currently taking classes to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. When she is not studying or taking care of our patients, she enjoys reading and spending time outdoors.     Veterinary Assistant

    Katy graduated with an Animal Science degree from The Ohio State University. She specialized in equine science and forestry/fisheries and wildlife with a bioscience minor.  She has been with the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium since 2013, working in the Education and Animal Nutrition departments. 

    At home, Katy enjoys playing with her two dogs, two cats, her ball python, and spending time with her two horses. She is very excited to be a new member of the Fairfield Pet Hospital team and meet all of  your furry or feathered babies!

  • Nicolle Harris

    Veterinary Technician
    Fairfield Pet Hospital welcomes Nicolle Harris, a recent graduate from the Bradford Veterinary Technician Institute. Holding an associates degree of applied science, Nicolle plans to take the Veterinary Technical National Examination in July of 2017. When at home and not studying, Nicolle can be found either reading or cuddling with a fur baby of her own. With a passion and love for animals, Nicolle cannot wait to welcome your pets as her own.

    Clayton Deible

    Veterinary Assistant

    Hurry back Clayton!!  Clayton has returned to Miami University for his Senior year of college where he is working towards a B.S. in zoology and wants to continue his education and be able to attend Veterinary school! We will anxiously await Clayton's return on school breaks and holidays when he will return home with his dog and 2 cats and rejoin the kennel tech team. He is looking forward to seeing all of his four legged friends again! EXCITING NEWS!!- Clayton has been accepted at Lincoln Memorial University into their masters program in veterinarian biomedical science for the 2017-2018 school year and hopes to be a member of the freshman veterinary class there in the /fall of 2018.
